Voluntary Sector Websites
- Ability Net - a charity that brings the benefits of computer technology to adults and children with disabilities. Through a number of centres around the country it offers a comprehensive range of services to disabled people, professionals, employers and statutory bodies.
- ACE (Aiding Communication in Education) - provides a focus of information and expertise in the use of technology as an aid to communication.
- Bathing Made Easy - provides comprehensive database of equipment for older and disabled people.
- Disabled Living Foundation - an information and advice service on all aspects of disability.
- Disability Rights Commission (DRC) - The Disability rights Commission (DRC) is an independent body set up by the Government to help eliminate discrimination against disabled people and to promote equality of opportunity. The site contains a significant amount of campaign and resource information.
- emPOWER - charities consortium of users of disability equipment. emPOWER campaigns on behalf of disabled users of Prosthetics, Orthotics, Wheelchairs and Assistive Technology.
- RADAR (Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation) - is a national organisation of and for disabled people. Its key areas of activity are: supporting over 500 local and national disability organisations; campaigning for improvements in disabled people's lives; providing information to support independence and equality for disabled people.
- Ricability - An independent research organisation that provides information for people with disabilities and older people. Reports and evaluation on domestic appliances to aids and general equipment.
- RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) - campaigns and offers practical support and advice to anyone with a sight problem.
- RNID (Royal National Institute for the Deaf) - is the largest charity representing the 8.7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK.
- Tiresias - information for people working within the field of visual disabilities.
- WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) - guidelines for creating accessible web sites.
